Magneto-mechanical systems

Micrometer size magnets are able to interact via dipolar interactions, a phenomenon that can be used to investigate fundamental physical aspects found in artificial spin ice, or exploited for applications in areas such as magnetic computation. By engineering these interactions at micrometer and sub-micrometer length scales, we can create materials with striking magneto-mechanical properties.
