Samuel Treves

st

Samuel Treves obtained his Master’s degree in Physics with Astrophysics at the University of Exeter, UK in 2019. His Master’s project involved implementing a post-processing pipeline for a dataset of stars directly imaged by the Keck telescope. The project aim was to discover extrasolar planets around these stars and was supervised by Prof. Sasha Hinkley. Sam also spent three months working with the University of Exeter’s Functional Materials Laboratory where he synthesised nanomedical devices to be used in the treatment of cancer cells. He joined the Laboratory for Mesoscopic Systems in February 2020.

Current Research Interests

Samuel’s research focusses on unravelling the role of topological magnetic defects in skyrmion lattice formation and their dynamics using three-dimensional X-ray magnetic imaging. He is interested in helping to establish the fundamental phenomena of these systems so that they can be better understood.
