Workshop on Frontiers in Artificial Spin Ice 2023
The Laboratory for Mesoscopic Systems recently organised the workshop Frontiers in Artificial Spin Ice 2023, in Lenzburg, Switzerland. This workshop, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation, brought together the key players in Artificial Spin Ice and related fields in order to explore recent advances, open questions, and new avenues.
The event featured 24 Invited Talks and 57 Poster Contributions, with over 100 attendees - more than double the number that attended four years ago! The sessions were divided into themes, encompassing phase transitions and correlations, neuromorphic computing, 3D structures, and dynamics. It is a tradition of these workshops to invite speakers from different, but still complementary, areas to help spark new investigations. As such, FASI also featured talks on metamaterials, colloidal systems, and disorder in chemical systems to help realise new connections to Artificial Spin Ice.
We hope that all attendees had an enjoyable time, connecting in person with colleagues old and new, and look forward to seeing what new frontiers open up in the field!
